Alpaca + Merino + Nettles – ONION
If you are looking for a cozy high quality yarn, with a well hidden little bit of originality, Onion’s Alpaca Merino Nettles might speak to you!
The originality of this yarn comes from the nettle fiber that it contains! We knew nettle had great cosmetics characteristics (it is an excellent hair care product). But it is more surprising to find it in a knitting yarn. However, it has wonderful qualities in this role too!
First, it is a very resistant fiber, that can naturally be used instead of the synthetic fibers that are the norm to strenghten a yarn, such as nylon for example. Indeed, Onion is a Danish brand which takes to heart to offer sustainable yarn, environment-friendly. In this regard, they develop 100% natural yarns, with real ecological concerns and respectful of human and animal well-being too. That is why they use nettle in some of their yarn.
Besides its strenghtening qualities, nettle gives a subtle lustre to the yarn. Plus, as it does not take the dye the same way as animal fiber, the yarn has a soft heathered effect, very pleasant.
Spun in Italy, this alpaca, merino and nettle blend looks like a chainette. It makes it really soft and fluffy, so cuddly!
