Kremke Soul Wool – Morning Salutation
Want a yarn that is both soft and fresh for mid-season projects, with a silky finish and beautiful drape, but without animal fiber? Kremke’s Morning Salutation might be what you are looking for.
Indeed, this new vegan yarn is made of a Lyocell (Tencel™) and fine cotton blend.
Lyocell is a fiber made from wood pulp, that has been sourced from controlled and certified sustainable sites. Plus, the process used by the Tencel™ brand is well-known for its closed-loop production system, where 99% of the water is re-used. Actually, PETA has designed this type of fiber as “polyvalent [and] eco-friendly”. What’s more, its characteristics make it particularly pleasant to wear, as it makes a breathable, hypoallergenic and refreshing fabric.
In fact, all this makes Morning Salutation an ideal yarn to knit baby clothes! But you will also appreciate it for all your mid-season and summery projects. Silky, its good stitch definition and its intense colours will make every motif and texture pop. Plus, it makes quite a heavy fabric, with a beautiful drape.
What you need to know about this yarn:
- Weight: DK
- Composition: 51% Lyocell (Tencel™), 49% Cotton
- 110 meters / 50 grams balls
- Available in 13 shades
- Needles 3-4 mm
- Gauge: 20 stitches = 10 cm
- Machine washable on a delicate program – Dry flat
Note: because of their weight, your bigger garments, even if you dry them flat, might lenghten after washing.
So Kremke’s Morning Salutation pulls together a lot of the qualities we like to find in a knitting yarn. Here, we can imagine a baby wrapped up in a oh-so-soft Lil Kimonos! But, as we also want to enjoy it, maybe something like the Hope t-shirt will end on our needles too!
And if you want to try this plant-based yarn, but need more ideas, or if you simply want to see how it looks once knitted, you can go and look at its Ravelry page 😉
