The Fibre Co. – Amble

A yarn especially designed for the socks lovers! If environmental protection is also one of your concerns, The Fibre Co.’s Amble may well interest you.

Yet another yarn that is aptly named! Indeed, what better way to name something designed to keep your feet warm and toasty while strolling through parks or forests? It also is the first yarn of this type created by this brand, as they wanted to offer a yarn both resistant and easy to wash, yet in keeping with their values, which include environmental respect.

So why, indeed, offer a yarn containing nylon? Just because this fiber brings strength to the blend. And if a yarn is resistant, it also is durable. Plus, by using nylon coming from industrial wastes recycling, The Fibre Co. works at reducing the amount of wastes ending in landfills. So actually everything kind of finds a balance 😉

Plus, the merino and alpaca fibers in this blend have been subjected to an “easy wash” treatment, making them more resistant to felting. As a result, this yarn is as strong as a superwash one, but without using chlorine, so without producing AOX*. A good news for our planet!

Thanks to the combination of these two processes, you have a durable and resistant yarn, which production and care have only a small impact on the environment. In one word: eco-friendly!
